Gandy Boulevard construction delayed again

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Anyone who takes the Gandy Bridge to or from Pinellas County got some bad news this week. 

The troubled overpass project faces another delay - this time until fall. 

Engineers over the project blame the rainy weather for delaying construction, which has been underway for years.

A construction deadline was originally set for spring of 2017, before being moved to this summer, and now into the fall. They've been trying to finish the overpasses and add lanes to the heavily-traveled roadway. 

Two of the westbound overpass lanes recently opened, and two eastbound lanes are expected to open Friday.
