Gas station fight leaves one man in the hospital, another in jail

A man is recovering from injuries, including a broken leg, after a fight at a Bradenton gas station.

What we know:

Bradenton police were called to the Marathon gas station on 14th St. W around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Witnesses told police that two men got into a fight inside the store and continued to fight in the parking lot. Witnesses say Peter Sampson got a hatchet from his car and threatened the victim. Witnesses told police Sampson got into his car and hit the victim before driving away.

Police were able to track down Sampson and arrested him on Thursday morning.

He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.

What we don't know:

The name of the victim was not released.
