An army of volunteers in Tampa has been spending the past few weeks gathering and shipping supplies to Puerto Rico and it hasn't gone unnoticed.
Governor Rick Scott stopped by the distribution center in Tampa to thank volunteers from Course of Action Puerto Rico.
The group is mostly made up of Puerto Rican natives, now living here in the Bay Area.
Since Hurricane Maria, they've collected three million pounds of donated goods; everything from water and clothing to diapers and dog food.
"We're a great state. We're a state that helps other. People come and help us when we have disasters. We need to do the same thing," Governor Scott said during his visit.
That distribution center is open every day for donations. It's located on Lois Avenue, a few blocks south of Gandy Boulevard.
