Gunmen ransack elderly woman's Winter Haven home, police say
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (FOX 13) - Winter Haven police are looking for two men who broke in the door of a 76-year-old great grandmother and burglarized her home at gunpoint.
Chris Barnett says she was watching the news with her great granddaughter Tuesday morning at a little before 7 when it happened.
Barnett said she heard a massive boom, and one of the guys started yelling.
“’Get down woman!’ What do you mean? So I knocked the gun outta my face,” she told FOX 13. “He didn’t scare me.”
Barnett says the men made her get down on the floor, then went room to room. She said they ended up stealing eight guns, clothes, liquor and $40.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
A neighbor’s security camera took a photo of someone who may be a suspect.
“That’s the only thing we have to go on right now, and we’re thrilled to get that,” said Jamie Brown, spokeswoman for the Winter Haven Police Department.
Detectives said the video shows a shirtless black male, possibly one of the suspects, walking between two homes. Anyone with information on the man’s identity or anything about the case is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
