The Haines City Fire Department said a home sustained heavy damage in a fire early Sunday morning.

Officials said more than 20 fire and EMS personnel responded to the fire on Wallace Court around 2 a.m.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and roof areas when they arrived.

The residents were able to escape the home uninjured, however a cat did not survive the blaze, firefighters said.

It's unclear what caused the fire, which remains under investigation.
