Heinz teases Mayochup introduction to US

When you hear Heinz, you probably think ketchup, at least in the United States.

In Middle Eastern countries, however, another product might come to mind: Mayochup.

It's just what it sounds like - a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise - which some Americans might admit they make at home.

Once word got out that Mayochup was commonplace in other parts of the world, many began to ask Heinz when it would make its way to the Americas.

To gauge the interest in Mayochup appearing on shelves in the U.S., Heinz proposed a vote.

The brand wrote on Twitter, if its poll received 500,000 yes votes, Mayochup in America would be a go.

"We look to America’s condiment lovers to tell us if this is something they want or if they prefer to remain Heinz Mayonnaise and Ketchup purists," a representative from Heinz told FOX 13 News.

As of this writing, the poll had received more than 500,000 votes, with just over half saying "Pass the Heinz Mayochup."

"We’ve seen a fierce debate on Twitter, with over 250,000 already voting yes, it’s looking like Heinz Mayochup has a strong chance of launching!" Heinz's Director of Marketing Nicole Kulwicki said. "The next question at hand is the final name for this delicious combination. We know our friends in Idaho and Utah are passionate about Fry Sauce, and we’ve seen lots of other great suggestions online, so if we get to 500K YES votes, we will be giving the nation a say in our final name."

For anyone eager to make their own at home, but is worried about getting the recipe just right, Heinz is introducing Deliciously Creamy Heinz Real Mayonnaise in the U.S.The company was not able to comment on the ketchup-to-mayo ratio for Mayochup.
