International Talk Like a Pirate Day & Bay Area freebies

TAMPA (FOX 13) - Avast land lubbers! Saturday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. The holiday was created back in 1995 following a "competitive" raquetball game amongst two friends.
According to the website, the friends exchanged friendly insults in pirate-speak that led to the creation of the "holiday."
To be a part of the fun in the Tampa Bay area, several restaurants will be participating in freebies, including Krispy Kreme and Long John Silvers.
At Long John Silvers, you can get a free fish tender if you talk like a pirate. If you're dressed as a pirate, you can get a 2 piece fish tender basket. Click for more information. (They even have a pirate name generator.)
At Krispy Kreme, you can get a free original glazed donut if you talk like a pirate. But if you're wearing at least three pieces of pirate clothing, you can get a whole dozen. Click to see what clothing items are on the list and to find a participating location.
If you need to brush up on your basic pirate lingo, there is a Talk Like a Pirate Day website that features a dictionary as well as basic pirate phrases.
