Jimmy Johnson works to fight addiction struggles
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Addiction is a struggle millions of Americans struggle to fight every day and there's a Bay Area organization working to raise awareness of the fight.
The Tranquil Shores Foundation believes everyone should have access to drug and alcohol educational and recovery services. The foundation has teamed up with the Jimmy Johnson Scholarship Fund - which provides addiction education and treatment - to raise money to fight addiction and provide those services to people in need.
An event to raise money for the fight against addiction is being hosted by FOX 13 Sports' Scott Smith at Malio's Prime Steakhouse Friday, September 9 at 12 p.m. There will be a meet and greet with former two-time Super Bowl-winning coach and Fox Sports commentator, Jimmy Johnson, as he kicks off the 2016 NFL season in support of the Tranquil Shores Foundation and the Jimmy Johnson Scholarship Fund.
Attendees will also have the chance to bid on an all access, behind the scenes trip to the Fox Sports set in L.A. with Jimmy Johnson. There will also be signed sports memorabilia at a silent auction.
200 tickets are available for the event. Those may be purchased at tranquilshoresfoundation.org through September 2.
