Living a big life in a tiny house
VALRICO (FOX 13) - Corbett Lunsford and his wife Grace have a big idea. They're building a tiny house in their parents' backyard.
"We've been planning this for about a year," Corbett told us. A piece of work created not just for them, but, they say, for you.
At about 200 square feet their tiny house on wheels will hold a heap of possibilities for homeowners everywhere. "We wanted to be able to go around the country and teach people who aren't able to have us come to their house and spend the money to get a full diagnostics the way that we do it," Corbett explained.
When finished, it will be packed with all kinds of cutting edge tools to help consumers and contractors get better performance out of their homes. There are formaldehyde-free walls, solar panels, and composted waste disposal. "We're actually calling our tiny house the tiny lab," said Grace.
If you're wondering why the Lunsfords are so knowledgeable, it's because Corbett is a certified home performance professional, and together they're developing their own TV show called Home Diagnosis. The Lunsfords believe if homeowners knew about scientific testing methods like Infrared Thermography for example, you'll be able to make sure work on your home gets done to quality standards. "That's why we decided to do this, why we're going on the road, why we have 20 companies sponsoring us to come across the nation and talk to homeowners specifically about this" Grace explained.
After following their progress for months, the big day has arrived and the tiny house has been completed. "Feels good to have built a house," Corbett told us. A tiny home, built in a backyard, but ready for the world.
