Midwest blizzard affecting dozens of Tampa flights
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A massive winter storm blanketing the Midwest is causing travel nightmares across the country for thousands, even here in sunny Tampa. Dozens of flights out of TIA have been delayed or canceled, leaving many in the dark about when they will see their loved ones again.
“My word from New Jersey was that he was on time and he was in the air, but I got here and found out he’s delayed,” said Jennifer Errington, whose son is flying into Tampa from New York.
Nearly every flight from Kansans City to Tampa was canceled Sunday night, according to FlightAware, a website that tracks flights.
Despite the air woes, officials are urging people to stay off the roads in the affected areas. One traveler at TIA learned that the hard way.
“Another car was spinning out, he managed to avoid me, but then I spun out, and as you can see, I’m in a ditch now.”
