Motorcyclist hit, killed after driver falls asleep
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Charges are pending against a possible drunk driver who St. Pete police said fell asleep before crashing into a motorcyclist.
The crash happened shortly before midnight Saturday on Gandy Boulevard at the 4th Street intersection.
According to police, 22-year-old Dylan Baron fell asleep at the wheel of his Chevrolet Cruze and ran the red light at the intersection.
Baron crashed into a motorcyclist that was traveling eastbound on Gandy Boulevard. The victim, 48-year-old Michael Majchrowski, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said Baron had been consuming alcohol prior to the crash, which remains under investigation.
