Myakka City teen dies after accidentally shooting self

MYAKKA CITY (FOX 13) - A Manatee County teenager was shooting at animals when he accidentally shot himself, deputies say.
According to the sheriff’s office, Wyatt Austin Ballard Hall’s parents were in the bedroom of their Albritton Road home when they heard a gunshot. Moments later, the 15-year-old came inside and said he’d shot himself while trying to shoot at animals that had been getting into the trash.
Paramedics rushed to the home, but were unable to save the teen.
A handgun, believed to be the weapon involved in the shooting, was recovered at the home. Deputies are still investigating but say they believe it was indeed an accident.
