Florida had the most new cases of HIV reported for the third year in a row last year.

There were approximately 6,000 newly-diagnosed cases in the state in 2015, not including the final total for December.

The total number of new HIV cases in the Tampa Bay area was 1,124. That was an increase of 170 from 2014.

Polk County had the largest increase. From 2014 to 2015, the number of new cases jumped by 44-percent.

Manatee County saw the only dip in new cases - a 2-percent decrease.

Hillsborough had a 7-percent increase, but still had the highest total number of new cases at 443.
