New Tampa man shoots neighbor to death before turning gun on himself: HCSO

Two men died Wednesday evening in what deputies are calling a murder-suicide in New Tampa

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, someone called 911 around 6:30 p.m. to report a shooting in the 18000 block of Royal Forest Drive in New Tampa.

When deputies arrived, they found Steven Glantz, 67, suffering from multiple gunshots.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Casey Minuto, a spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, called the shooting "a horrible tragedy right before Christmas."

Deputies said they found surveillance video that showed someone walking up to Glantz’s home before the sound of gunshots rang out. Then, the same person is seen walking away.

"Him (sic) and his son were just sitting on the couch watching TV, having a relaxing night together when the doorbell rang," Minuto said.

"They don't know exactly what led to this. That's still part of the investigation, why this happened," Minuto stated. "Was there a dispute between these neighbors? That's all part of the investigation."

The sheriff’s office told FOX 13 that after checking the records of the people involved in the shooting, no prior calls to either of the individual's homes were made in the past and that an investigation into what led up to the shooting is ongoing.

"Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this unimaginable loss," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the devastating effects of senseless violence on our community. HCSO is committed to supporting the grieving families as they navigate this incredibly difficult time."
