New York girl, 3, gives Elmo doll to officer so he wouldn't have to work alone
BLASDELL, N.Y. (FOX 13) - A little girl’s act of kindness has stolen the hearts from a New York police department.
Three-year-old Gabby Yesis of Blasdell gave her Elmo doll to a city police officer, so that he wouldn’t have to work alone. Her mother, Eileen Orourk Yesis, said her little girl came up with the idea.
On June 9, after seeing the officer working by himself, Gabby said she wanted to give the officer her Elmo on the spot, but he had already driven away. For a few days, Eileen said her daughter couldn’t stop talking about the officer, and how she wanted him to have her doll.
A few days later, Eileen and her daughter set out to find the officer. On the way, they gave a thin blue and red line flags to police and fire officials. Eventually, they found him.
The Blasdell Police Department posted photos of the duo, along with Elmo before the doll went off on duty.
According to FOX News, Elmo has since returned to Gabby’s room. The young girl said she wants to be a police officer when she grows up.
