Pasco deputies make arrest in deadly shooting
HUDSON (FOX 13) - A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting at a Pasco County apartment complex Wednesday night.
Anthony Blount, 21, has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.
The shootout happened at the Ridgestone Apartment complex at around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Neighbors ran for cover as a drug deal went south, according to investigators.
Thursday morning, deputies located a red SUV they thought was connected to the shooting.
According to detectives, Ariel Felder, of Zephyrhills, pulled a white Nissan Altima into the parking lot of the apartment complex. She parked next to a red Dodge Durango SUV, which deputies say was driven by Blount.
Deputies say Jamarques Codling, of Dade City, and another unidentified man got out of the Nissan and into the Durango.
About a minute later, deputies say the two guys ran from the Durango back to the Nissan, which tried to back up and take off. That's when Blount got out of the Durango's driver's side holding a handgun, investigators say.
Blount chased the two men, firing "at least 13 rounds into the white Nissan," according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Felder was shot in the back of the head. She remains in critical condition.
Despite being shot, Felder pulled the Nissan forward but crashed into the building.
Codling got out and ran toward the Durango as he shot at Blount, investigators say.
Blount got back in the Durango and took off.
At some point, Codling was shot. He later died of his injuries.
Blount was also shot. Deputies did not release the extent of his injuries.
Deputies say they found a large bag of marijuana was found in the parking lot where the shooting took place.
Deputies said they were also looking for 21-year-old Kiyondrea Redfield, who they believe was involved.
