Several residents in Pasco County are turning to social media to help others who were affected by Hurricane Hermine.

Hermine was the first hurricane to hit Florida since 2005. Although the metro Tampa area was not hit very hard, hundreds of people in Pasco County are still trying to clean up the damage caused by Hermine.

Residents have created a Facebook page, called Operation PASCO CO Florida HERMINE HELP. The group has already hosted one event to provide supplies to those in need.

Members of the Facebook group are also trying to help the Howell family, whose home sustained heavy water damage and has a hole in the roof. The family has been in a hotel since Hermine hit, but will have to return to their home soon, which is not in livable conditions.

Many residents showed up Tuesday morning to help the Howell's. All of the items from their home are sitting on their front lawn because of the water damage in the house.

"It is absolutely amazing," said Tia Howell about the help she's getting. "I am extremely grateful."

Residents who are still affected by Hermine can also contact Pasco County Human Services at 727-847-2411 to request assistance.
