Pedestrian killed in St. Petersburg crash

Police in St. Petersburg are investigating a crash that left a woman dead Friday night.

Officers say someone in a blue 2016 Nissan sedan was driving northbound on 4th Street North, approaching the intersection of NE Lincoln Circle North, when a woman stepped into the street.  The front of the Nissan hit her, throwing her to the ground.  

Paramedics rushed to the scene, and took the woman to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers.  The victim's name has not been released, because police are still working to track down and notify her family of her death.
