Pinellas deputies search for suspect in string of burglaries
OLDSMAR (FOX13) - D'Lites Ice Cream in Oldsmar prides itself on offering sweet treats, but a recent burglary has left a sour taste behind.
"He was not sweet at all," said Eliza Whitmore, speaking of the suspect.
He broke the shop’s windows before breaking in. Surveillance video shows him dressed in a white hoodie as he pries open a cash drawer.
"I was shocked. I was like ‘we're nice people you shouldn't break in here,’" said Whitmore.
Deputies tell Fox 13 D'Lites is one of nine locations this same suspect has burglarized in Northern Pinellas County.
"We're hoping someone out there can identify who this individual is," said Cecilia Barreda, with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
The burglaries are happening in the overnight hours, all over the past month.
"I think it's pretty scary. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again while I'm here," said Whitmore.
"If anything, he could've asked for a job or like, apply for a job, rather than breaking in," she added.
If you have any information on the burglaries, you are urged to contact PCSO: 727-582-6200 or CrimeStoppers: 1-800-873-TIPS.
