PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police have arrested two juveniles who allegedly robbed two Phoenix fast food restaurants while wearing clown masks.
Phoenix police say the robberies happened at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night when a clown mask wearing suspect robbed a Taco Bell near 99th Avenue and McDowell at gunpoint.
Investigators say the suspect fired a gunshot during the robbery, but no one was hurt.
Shortly after, police say another suspect wearing a black and red luchador style wrestling mask robbed a Domino's Pizza near 75th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.
Like the first robbery, the suspect was wearing a clown mask and fired a gunshot, but no one was hurt.
"The primary suspect in these robberies was arrested during a traffic stop on the evening of Wednesday, September 28, 2016, and was found to be in possession of evidence from the robberies. This investigation led to the identification and arrest of the second suspect who was the getaway driver," stated Sgt. Vince Lewis.
Lewis says the 17-year-old male suspects are being looked at for possible involvement in additional armed robberies.
Due to the age of the suspects, their names will not be released.
