Investigators are looking for the driver involved in a deadly hit and run in St. Petersburg.

Just after midnight Friday, a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the 4400 block of 38th Avenue North.

Police say 55-year-old Jeffrey Remmel was walking westbound on the sidewalk when he apparently lost his balance and fell into the curb. The car hit Remmel and did not stop.

Investigators say Remmel died at the scene.

Right now, detectives have little information on the driver or the vehicle.  They’re looking for a large white or silver 4 door sedan and a light colored silver or gold minivan that were seen in the area at the time of the accident.  It is not clear that either vehicle was directly involved, but the occupants may have witnessed the crash.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call 727-893-7780.
