Police: Man who filed complaint later calls in bomb threat to Publix store

New Port Richey Police investigating a bomb threat at a Publix supermarket are trying to identify a man seen on surveillance video at a different Publix earlier the same day.

On June 29, just after 9 p.m., detectives say a man called the Southgate Publix on US 19 and asked to speak to the District Manager. The caller told the manager that a bomb had been placed in one of his stores.

No bombs were found, but investigators did discover that the phone number used by the caller matched the phone number of a man who visited a different Publix earlier in the day to file a complaint.

Thursday afternoon, investigators released a photo of the man taken from a store surveillance camera. They call him a “person of interest” and they’re asking the public to help identify him.
