Police search for woman unknowingly photographed in St. Pete restaurant's bathroom
ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - A hidden camera was found placed inside the bathroom at St. Pete’s popular Casita Taqueria restaurant, at 2663 Central Avenue.
The camera was rolling when it was spotted by a worker cleaning the bathroom.
She saw herself being broadcast live on a phone, then used that picture to track down the video source.
“The phone was in one area and the camera was in another. It looks like it was intentionally set up to capture someone using the restroom,” said St. Pete Police Department spokesperson Sandra Bentil.
Police released photos of a woman recorded by the camera in hopes someone will recognize her. The victim would have been in the bathroom on Thursday, July 26 around 8:30 p.m.
She is described as a white female with long, brown hair that was pulled into a ponytail. She also has a tattoo on the upper part of her right arm.
Police say she was wearing a pink or light purple tank top, black leggings, and black flip-flops.
St. Pete police say they can’t charge the person behind the set-up until they can speak with the victim.
“In order for there to be a crime, there has to be a victim. That’s why we are starting with trying to locate at least one person that was videoed while they didn’t know,” Bentil said.
Anyone who may know who the victim might be is asked to call 727-893-7780 or text SPPD along with an anonymous tip to TIP411.
