Polk County manhunt suspect caught by PCSO
LAKELAND (FOX 13) - The subject of a two-day manhunt in Polk County was caught by deputies Saturday morning.
Deputies say 31-year-old Wesley Thomas Grace shot at a Polk County Sheriff's office helicopter Thursday. A $3,000 cash reward was being offered for the anonymous tip that results in the his arrest.
Deputies said Grace has been in the Polk County Jail 14 times on 23 felony charges.
Bartow police said Grace carjacked a white flatbed truck just after 3 p.m. Thursday, then led deputies on a chase. That's when he allegedly fired on the helicopter.
Residents in the Saddlebag Lake Resort area had been advised to arm themselves and be cautious while Grace was on the run.
Grace has pending charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill, use/display a firearm during a felony offense, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Details of his capture were not immediately available.
