Popular, smaller SUVs get 'poor' passenger crash rating
(FOX 13) - Passengers in some smaller sport utility vehicles might not be as well protected in certain types of crashes, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The IIHS tested seven vehicles – all of which had good ratings for protecting drivers in a front-end impact. But this time, they tested the passenger side.
Only the 2016 Hyundai Tucson earned a good rating for passenger safety in a front-end impact.
The 2015 Toyota RAV4 got a poor rating.
Two SUV's were marginal – the 2013 Nissan Rogue and the 2014 Subaru Forester.
The remaining three - the 2015 Buick Encore, 2015 Honda CR-V and the 2015 Mazda CX-5 - were rated acceptable.
