Portion of Bayshore Blvd. wall crumbles after crash

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A portion of the railing that lines Bayshore Boulevard has been knocked down following a car accident Thursday morning. 

Tampa police say it happened sometime after 7 a.m. near the entrance to the Davis Islands Bridge, between Swann Avenue and Platt.

FOX 13 viewer Katie Wyatt tweeted a photo of the hole in the wall shortly after, saying that a red SUV had been towed away, and it appeared the balustrades had stopped the vehicle from going into the water on the other side. 

Officials have not said what caused the crash, or if anyone was injured as a result.
