Foodies across Florida await the moment each year when the list of new foods being served at the Florida State Fair is released. For 2019, the wait is over.

Fair officials got the rundown of the cheesiest, crunchiest, sweetest, and strangest foods being served to fairgoers this year.

The Florida State Fair runs from Feb. 7th through the 18th and the food, of course, is one of many things the fair has to offer. But, let's be honest, it's one of the most exciting and universally celebrated parts of the fair experience.

If ooey-gooey cheese is what you're after, there are several new items you'll want to try. Angela's Pizza will be frying up a 1/4 mozzarella cheese stick on a stick, which is probably fine on its own, but can be dipped in marinara or ranch, too.

The Giddy Piggy will have several options for cheese lovers, including it rainbow grilled cheese, which is a blend of multi-colored mozzarella, provolone, and Gouda melted to perfection. The Giddy Piggy will also have a taco grilled cheese, adding taco meat, salsa, and sour cream to every kid's favorite sandwich.

Some folks go to the fair to try new and different creations you won't find anywhere else.

These enterprising foodies might enjoy The Best Around's savory funnel cake made with red beans and rice and topped with a mix of sausage, peppers, onions and beans.

Another interesting offering will be Carousel Foods' black cherry burger, with cherries, basil, shallots, and garlic mixed into the meat, then topped with Gouda, two slices of bacon, and cherry orange relish on a brioche bun.

And what would a list of fair food be without a new take on everyone's favorite sandwich - the Cuban. This year, Pizza Emporium will have a Cuban slice, with a dijonnaise base, mozzarella and Swiss, topped with roast pork, ham and pickles.

After all those savory selections, you'll be looking for something sweet to balance out your menu. How about gourmet cookie dough - raw or fried - from The Happy Dough? Or maybe a coconut cream doughnut from Peachey's is more your flavor.

No matter what you choose, pace yourself.
