Resident helps save injured eagle
SEFFNER (FOX 13) - An injured bald eagle is on its way to a rehab facility, thanks to an alert Hillsborough County resident.
According to the sheriff's office, a homeowner called deputies after spotting a bald eagle splashing at the edge of a pond along Old E. Hillsborough Ave in Seffner. The responding deputy called Florida Fish and Wildlife, who in turn dispatched a licensed trapper from the Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife.
The trapper and the deputy caught the eagle, examined it, and gave it fluids before taking it back to the sanctuary for further evaluation.
They couldn't immediately determine how the eagle got hurt, but it will next head to the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Orlando and -- assuming it recovers -- eventually be released back on the Seffner property.
