The backstory:

The first Grand Theft Auto hit store shelves back in 1997. The last installment, Grand Theft Auto V, released over a decade ago in 2013, broke video game records around the world in terms of sales and users. Since then, fans all over have been left to gripe about delays in the return of the popular franchise.

What's next:

The latest installment follows protagonists Jason and Lucia as they navigate the fictional state of Leonida, a setting inspired by Florida.

As in previous games, players can expect high-speed car chases, open-world exploration and the series' signature brand of crime-fueled action while roaming Vice City, Rockstar's fictional version of Miami.

Timeline:

The game will be released on November 19.
