Runner mistakes massive snake for fallen tree branch
Watch where you run!
It’s a lesson a local almost learned the hard way Monday night, when they mistook a massive boa constrictor for a fallen tree branch!
It happened at Robinson Preserve Park in Bradenton, where the person was off on a run. They spotted what they thought was a large tree branch in their path, but took a second look and alerted park officials immediately.
The park contacted Wildlife Inc., who had to send two men to handle the 100-pound snake.
They identified it as a red-tailed boa, and said based on its friendly and tame demeanor, it was likely someone’s pet.
Considering there are homes nearby, they believe the snake either escaped, or someone let it loose.
It is important to note that it is illegal to release nonnative species into the wild in the state of Florida. If the owner is found, they could face charges.
