Sarasota parents of 2-month-old arrested for child abuse

Doctors discovered multiple injuries in a two-month-old leading to the arrest of her parents, police announced.

Sarasota police arrested 27-year-old Martin Gomez and 28-year-old Magdalena Perez-Lopez and charged them with child neglect.

Detectives responded to Sarasota Memorial Hospital on January 18 after receiving a report of child abuse against the infant. The parents took their daughter to the hospital because she was not eating, police say, and after an examination, physicians found several injuries, with different healing stages.

They couple were arrested the following day and the two-month-old was transported to All Children’s Hospital due to the discovered injuries.
