Sausage recall for possible metal inside products

More than 11,000 pounds of sausage is being recalled because of reports of metal pieces being found inside the products.

The recall is for 24 ounce packages of Zeigler Red Hot chicken and pork sausage items that were shipped nationwide.

The issue was discovered after two consumer complaints were received in December.

No injuries were reported.

The affected products have "Use By" dates of Jan. 24 and were produced on Nov. 29.

The Department of Agriculture is concerned there may be some affected products in consumers' freezers.

Anyone who has purchased the products is urged not to eat them and either throw them away or return to point of purchase.
