Shot suspect dies, another sought by Hernando deputies

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office confirmed one of the suspects in an armed robbery, who was shot by deputies Tuesday, has died.

Deputies were actively pursuing another suspect Tuesday evening, who they said may be armed.

HCSO said two men tried to rob a Dollar General store at 6336 Sherman Hills Blvd. near Saturn and Endsley Roads.

Sheriff Al Nienhuis confirmed one of the suspects, who was shot by sheriff's deputies, died at the scene.

The second suspect remained on the run and was believed to be in the area of U.S. 41 and Ayers Road. 

He was described as a white male in his 20s, who was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt. He was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Multiple agencies were assisting in the search, including the Pasco Sheriff's Office, the Florida Highway Patrol and the FWC. In addition to the Air Units, numerous K-9 units and blood hounds were being used to track the suspect.

Residents in the area were asked to stay inside and call 911 if they spot anything suspicious.

The Hernando County sheriff told Fox 13's Josh Cascio the suspects may have been involved in prior illegal activity. The investigation was ongoing.
