Smoke billows from Tampa trash facility
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Several fire and rescue crews worked to put out a massive fire at a Waste Management plant in Tampa Monday morning.
The view from SkyFOX showed thick clouds of grey smoke billowing from the Tampa Waste Processing facility near Hanna Avenue and 53rd Street as firefighters worked to attack the flames from several different angles.
The roads in the immediate area were temporarily shut down throughout the process.
Investigators say a welding project that was underway earlier in the morning caused the fire.
One person was injured, but refused treatment at the scene.
The flames have since been put out. Now investigators will work to determine if the building is still structurally sound.
