St. Pete homeowner shoots, critically injures intruder, police say

A St. Petersburg homeowner opened fire on an intruder, police said, injuring the suspect.

According to St. Petersburg police, two masked and armed men entered the home, located in the 2800 block of 27th Avenue North, just before midnight Tuesday. They said the victim shot at the suspects, and they fled.

One of the suspects was shot multiple times, police said, and was found in the middle of the roadway when officers arrived. He was identified as 26-year-old Randy Stanley Jr. The second suspect was not located as of Wednesday morning.

Stanley was transported to Bayfront Hospital in critical condition, investigators said. He faces charges of home invasion robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.
