St. Pete police identify body found in lake as 16-year-old
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (FOX 13) - St. Petersburg police officers have identified the body that was found near alligators in Lake Maggiore.
Police were called to the lake off of Dr. MLK Jr Street on the morning of July 4.
Investigators said Saturday that the body was identified as 16-year-old Jarvis Deliford, who had been released from juvenile detention on June 29.
"If anyone had seen him between the 29th and the 4th, we would certainly like to know so we can go out and figure out and put the puzzle together," said Lt. Matthew Furse.
There were no obvious signs of foul play, police said, but they are awaiting autopsy results.
"It is still a suspicious death at this point," Furse said, noting there were "no signs of homicidal violence."
Police initially said that there were "signs of alligator involvement."
The death remains under investigation.
