Some students are learning the real meaning of Christmas by giving of their time and money.

Students at Learning Gate Community School in Lutz are wrapping presents for children at the Wilbur Davis Boys and Girl's Club in Seminole Heights.

"I think it is a fantastic idea." Manuela Corredor, a student at the school said. "I am super happy that I am privileged to do this."

The Junior National Honor Society students say they are happy to give back to a community that needs it.

"Giving back just makes me feel good and it should make other people feel good," Jake Langford said.

Carolynn Smith sponsors the event. She raised more than $7,000 to buy presents for 135 kids in the east Tampa neighborhood.

"I always live by we can't help everyone but everyone can help someone," Smith said.

She needed help so the students provided the manpower to wrap the presents.

"It's a great way for them to see and just understand that you know there are a lot of people out there that need help," teacher Marisa Langford said.

A lesson that teens like Sage Sharpe are learning first hand.

"It's cool that we are doing it," Sage said. "I think it's fun."

Kids are helping kids have a merry Christmas in this season of giving.
