TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Target stores nationwide experienced problems at their cash registers for several hours on Saturday, causing long lines at checkouts across the country.
The outage started Saturday afternoon, leaving customers unable to make purchases for several hours.
Target said the outage was the result of an "internal technology issue," but was not a data breach.
"Target's registers are fully back online and guests are able to purchase their merchandise again in all stores," the company said in a press release.
Customers had taken to social media to post photos of long lines, saying cash registers were not functioning properly.
Local resident Blair Driscoll said workers at the location on South Dale Mabry handed out snacks and coupons to people stuck in checkout lines, but gave customers no time frame for when the registers would be back up and running.
"This is how you bring America to a standstill," one person wrote. "Every single register at the Richfield Target is down."
