Teen with cystic fibrosis honored as officer for a day

A teenager in Sarasota is now one of the youngest police officers. At just 17, Tyler Babcock became an honorary Sarasota officer for a day.

Tyler has cystic fibrosis. He is waiting on a liver and pancreas transplant.

Daily, he fights to live, but Tyler says his dream is to one day become a police officer.

When Sarasota police heard this, they helped make his dream a reality.

"I just like to help people and make people happy," he explained with a smile.

Sarasota police were able to make Tyler happy. He started his day off with an escort by the SWAT team to the police department, where he was sworn in. From there, his day's activities included going on boat and road patrol.
