Three-alarm fire at Saddlebrook Resort

Pasco County firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at Saddlebrook Resort early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to what was originally a smoke alarm call, but instead found a two-story, 16-unit building on fire. Twenty-eight teenage guests and two resident assistants were inside the building at the time. All were accounted for and have been taken to safety.

It took crews several hours to contain the flames, and they continued to tackle hot spots in the building throughout the morning.

Saddlebrook is a prominent golf, tennis and spa resort. It often hosts elite tennis prospects. The teens who were rescued are believed to have been a part of the academy.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. An investigation is underway.
