A deadly crash killed one person and left six children injured, terrified and alone on the side of Interstate 75, near Big Bend Road Sunday morning.

According to FHP spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins, a tire blowout caused the driver of an SUV to lose control and crash into a wooded area on the side of I-75.

The driver, 28-year-old Jessica Guevara, did not survive. Two of the children's injuries were so severe they had to be airlifted to Tampa General Hospital. Four more children were taken to the hospital with various injuries.

Guevara and three of the children were not wearing seatbelts.

Several Good Samaritans stopped to help. One witness, who called 911, told FOX 13's Kellie Cowan that complete strangers tried to comfort the children while waiting for help to arrive.

"They were crying 'Mommy, mommy, mommy,'" said Asia Knight, who stopped to help after witnessing the crash. "They were checking the car to see if there was anybody else [inside] and grabbing the little girls to get them away from the mom because she was lying there not moving."

FHP is continuing to investigate the details of the crash.
