Tough love? Florida woman makes daughter carry 'I lied' sign in public

Some motorists in Cape Coral, Florida, were surprised on Saturday to see a teenage girl, in the company of her mother, holding a sign saying, “I lied” at a busy intersection.

Ashley Atty shared footage from the scene on Facebook, where the mother can be seen ordering her daughter to continue walking.

“On our way home we witnessed parenting at its finest,” Atty’s post said. According to Atty, the sign said, “I lied. I humiliated myself & my mother."

Atty told NBC2, “I’m sure she’ll never lie again, because that was embarrassing.”

According to the station, Cape Coral police were called to the scene and “addressed the situation,” adding that there was plenty of water for the girl and no one was hurt.

As of writing, the footage had over 8,000 views on Facebook, as people debated whether this was effective parenting or not.
