Two families uninjured in Sarasota apartment fire

SARASOTA (FOX 13) - Two families escaped a fire that broke out at a Sarasota apartment complex, fire officials say.

Early Monday morning, the Sarasota Fire Department received a call about the fire at Beneva Ridge Apartments at 4001 Beneva Road. When they arrived, they spotted two units on fire with flames bursting through the roof.

There were no injuries, officials said. One of the two families will seek help from Red Cross, and the other family left to stay with family and friends. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
