The first occurred around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday. St. Petersburg police said they received a call from a woman from a home in the 1000 block of 13th Avenue South. She informed them her husband was shot while they were sleeping, according to the agency.

After paramedics arrived, her husband, 34-year-old Lorenzo Brunson, passed away.

Within two hours, possible gunshots were heard blocks away in the 1200 block of 10th Avenue South around 4:45 a.m. St. Petersburg police said that's where they found 39-year-old William Gilbert with gunshot wounds in the street.

Police said he was taken to a hospital where he later passed away.

It's unclear whether both shootings are related or if they coincidentally occurred within a short distance and time of each other. Officials said no suspects are in custody.
