Underprivileged Hillsborough Co. kids given school supplies

Good Samaritan Mission back to school drive in Wimauma

A special outreach program in Hillsborough County Saturday helped some of the area's poorest children get free back to school supplies.

Hundreds of low-income families came out to the Good Samaritan Mission in Wimauma for the event.

Local deputies helped with the effort to give as many as 500 children the basic supplies that so many kids take for granted, including backpacks, pencils and erasers.

Many of the kids they helped are the children of migrant farm workers in Wimauma.

FOX 13 will also be hosting a school supply drive on Monday, August 8th during Good Day Tampa Bay. For more information and to find out how you can help, click here.
