Unwanted gator guest casually strolls through Sebring hotel
SEBRING (FOX 13) - A gator strolling outside a Sebring hotel was definitely not a guest.
The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office shared video of the “little guy” walking past hotel rooms at the Quality Inn, located at 6525 U.S. Highway 27 North, on Sunday. It’s seen taking a turn into a hallway on the bottom floor before it was cornered by a trapper.
The agency wrote on its Facebook page, “Maybe he was just looking for the tiki bar to get a margarita, but he didn't look like he was old enough to drink and didn't appear to have any ID in his alligator skin wallet.”
No other details were provided, including where the alligator was transported. Florida Fish & Wildlife officials have been reminding people it's time to watch out for alligators. During the spring when temperatures rise, gators become more active and visible, so FWC says to swim only in designated areas, keep pets on a leash and away from water, and keep your distance if you see a gator.
