A whale beached itself on Treasure Island Sunday morning.

Several Treasure Island residents spotted the whale on the beach and called authorities.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium responded to assist with the whale, which is possibly a melon-headed whale, according to the aquarium. The whale measured about seven feet long.

The whale is alive, and is being transported to SeaWorld for rehabilitation. It's unclear what caused the whale to beach itself.
