Woman arrested on drug, child neglect charges
SARASOTA (FOX 13) - A Sarasota woman is behind bars on drug and child neglect charges.
Deputies responded to a home on Ashton Road just before 7:30 Friday night after getting reports of an unconscious woman sitting in the driver's seat of a car outside. They identified her as Veronica Posey.
Authorities found two young children in the back seat of the car. They were not injured.
Paramedics were called to the scene and Posey regained consciousness. Deputies say numerous narcotics were found in the car, including prescription pain pills, marijuana and crack cocaine.
Department of Children and Family Services is taking care of the children. Posey is being held in the Sarasota County Jail on 65,000 bond.
