Woman hit, killed crossing 40th Street in Tampa

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A woman was killed Wednesday evening when she was hit by a car on 40th Street North near E. Hanlon Street, according to the Tampa Police Department. 

Officers say the driver stopped and did not seem to be impaired at the time of the accident. 

The crash is the second fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Tampa in less than 12 hours. 

Officers say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identification is being withheld until her family has been notified. 

The roadway has reopened since the accident.
