FEMA fans out across Polk County

In Polk County, FEMA workers joined power crews trying to help the area recover from Irma.

Teams from FEMA fanned out in neighborhoods in Ft. Meade and Frostproof on Monday. They went door-to-door helping people apply for disaster assistance money to help pay for damage.

"We like  to make door-to-door contact. If people aren't home, we leave our information," said Jodi Barnes, a team supervisor.

If you need help paying for repairs or other disaster assistance, you can call FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or visit their website at www.disasterassistance.gov.

Around 17,000 were still without power Monday afternoon in Polk County.
